The current reigning Miss Newcastle is Laura Alcantara Turner, a midwifery student from the North East who continues to represent the city with pride, professionalism, and purpose.

 

Laura’s crowning made headlines not only for her achievement, but also for her unique family connection to the pageant world—she was crowned by her brother, the current Mr England, making them one of the UK’s most inspiring pageant families.

 

Following the conclusion of the most recent Miss England Final, Laura remains an active ambassador for Miss Newcastle, supporting the competition and its contestants. She recently shared a special video message wishing this year’s contestants the very best of luck, reinforcing her commitment to encouraging, empowering, and championing the next generation of Miss Newcastle hopefuls.

⭐  A Legacy of Winners & Ambassadors 

​​​​​​​​​Rebecca Gormley — Perhaps one of the most recognisable Miss Newcastle alumni, Rebecca won Miss Newcastle in 2018, went on to place sixth in Miss England 2019, and later achieved national fame as a contestant on ITV2’s Love Island (Winter 2020 season).

Her journey from regional pageant winner to national TV personality highlights the breadth of opportunities that can start with the Miss Newcastle title.Rebecca’s background in modelling and pageantry helped launch her into the public eye when she entered Love Island on Day 9 of the villa and remained a memorable presence through to Day 30.

 

Her success demonstrates how Miss Newcastle can be a platform not just for pageant progression but for wider media and entertainment visibility.

Miss Newcastle has crowned many standout title holders who have gone on to represent the region with pride :​ Monet Grant — Held the Miss Newcastle crown in 2019 and competed at the Miss England Finals, carrying Newcastle’s spirit into the national arena.

Alisha Cowie from the North East won Miss England and went to Miss World to compete internationally!

Miss Newcastle England's Charity Impact

Miss Newcastle isn’t just about crowns — it’s about community. Over the years, contestants and organisers have raised significant funds for local charities.

 

In 2019, Miss Newcastle organisers and titleholders helped raise more than £20,000 for The Chronicle Sunshine Fund, supporting specialist equipment and experiences for children with disabilities and special needs across the North East. In Total over the Years approximately £90,000 has been raised for this one charity alone!

 

Through local events, sponsorships, and charity nights, Miss Newcastle has raised well into five figures for regional causes — helping to strengthen community ties and bring attention to important local initiatives.

 

These fundraising efforts reflect the competition’s belief that ambition and compassion go hand in hand — that beauty, confidence, and leadership should also bring positive change to real communities.

📍 The 2019 Miss England Final — Hosted in Newcastle

A milestone moment for the region came in 2019, when Newcastle upon Tyne hosted the Miss England Grand Final at the Newbridge Hotel.

 

This brought the national pageant to the North East for the first time, allowing local supporters, sponsors, and charities to be part of one of the UK’s premier beauty events.

 

The final gathered winners from regional heats across England — including Miss Newcastle — and showcased them on a national stage.
