It is the ONLY competition in the country to send its winner to represent England in the Miss World Contest

The Miss England Contest is widely regarded as one of the most respected and prestigious beauty titles in the country—and it remains the only competition that sends its winner on to represent England at the world-famous Miss World competition.

The pageant is directed by Angie Beasley, who has led Miss England since 2002. Angie’s history with Miss World goes back even further: during the 1990s she organised Miss United Kingdom on behalf of Miss World, working alongside Miss Scotland and Miss Wales.

When Julia Morley CBE restructured the UK titles, the four nations were separated—creating four individual pathways to Miss World, with the highest-scoring contestant earning the title of Miss UK.

The Miss England title is a registered and patented competition owned by Miss World, a global institution that has been celebrating beauty, talent, and purpose since 1952. Over the decades, Miss World has grown into one of the largest televised events on the planet, broadcast to over 120 countries and attracting thousands of entrants every year.

Miss England is especially known for championing “Beauty with a Purpose”, the charity ethos founded by Julia Morley, which focuses on supporting disadvantaged children and young people around the world. In recent years alone, the Miss England organisation has raised over £1 million for children’s charities, with long-standing support for Variety, the Children’s Charity, including more than £450,000 raised through Miss England events and regional heats.

The competition has also been a powerful launchpad for successful careers. Past Miss World winners include Aishwarya Rai, Zhang Zilin, and Priyanka Chopra, while former Miss World contestants Halle Berry and Michelle Yeoh went on to become Oscar winners. Closer to home, well-known Miss England alumni include Georgia Horsley (now Georgia Jones, married to Danny Jones from McFly), Danielle Lloyd, Amy Jackson (now one of Bollywood’s biggest stars), and Laura Coleman, who went on to sign with Models 1. Many contestants have also appeared on major TV shows and in high-profile media campaigns.

Today, the Miss England journey continues through its exciting network of regional heats—including the Miss Newcastle heat, which plays a vital role in discovering and nurturing new talent in the North East. The Regional Director for Miss Newcastle is Melissa Fiona Rae, a true inspiration within the organisation. Melissa is no stranger to the Miss England stage herself—she was a finalist in Miss England 2024, bringing first-hand experience, passion, and insight to her role in guiding the next generation of contestants.

With its unique blend of glamour, ambition, charity, and opportunity, Miss England remains far more than a beauty contest—it is a platform for purpose, personal growth, and national pride, offering young women the chance to represent England on one of the biggest stages in the world.
